I wish I wrote this one down sooner...a few nights ago I had a very long and intense dream which took place in the ruins of what seemed to be a mixture of an indian and mayan temple that was turned into a tourist attraction of sorts, similar to the ruins in Rome. The hours passed and I lingered around despite the desires of the authorities of the museum who held sway over the area. I met a smiling woman who was connected to said museum...she didn't mind my prescence much, and was talking with me. She was to show me something...in regards to the intent of someone else in the shadows...a man with a black suit. Other suited seemed to be looking for me, but they seemed to just be the security of the museum staff. I climbed up into a particular ruined, ceiling-less chamber at the top of a tall stone staircase, that was supposed to be off limits, and took in the view of the fountain sculptures at the edge of the premises...an elephant sculpture spraying water from it's trunk caught my eye. There was something to it, but I'm not sure what.
The symbolic sense of ruins is self-evident and derived directly from
the literal sense: they signify desolation and life defunct. They are tantamount to
sentiments, ideas or bonds which are no longer animated by the breath of life but
which nevertheless persist shorn of any use or function relevant to thought and
existence, but saturated with the past and redolent with a sense of the destruction
of its reality wrought by the passage of time. Ruins are symbolically equivalent
to biological mutilation.

Alternatively, the museum represents your own personal history. You can learn a lot from your past and your heritage. Consider what you have gained from these experiences and apply them to your current circumstances.

Seeing a staircase in your dream, symbolizes change and transformation.
To see a sculpture in your dream, indicates that you are refusing to accept things as they really are. You are afraid that you are not presenting yourself in a positive light or image.

Elephant-symbolism is somewhat complex for it embraces certain
secondary implications of a mythic character. In the broadest and universal sense,
it is a symbol of strength and of the power of the libido (42). Indian tradition has
it that elephants are the caryatids of the universe. In processions, they are the
bearers of kings and queens. It is interesting to note that, because of their rounded
shape and grey colour, they are regarded as symbols of clouds. By a twist of
magic thought, there arose first the belief that the elephant can create clouds and
then the mythic postulate of winged elephants. A mountain-top or a cloud, elephant-like in outline, could represent an axis of the universe (60), and this idea—
clearly primitive in origin—is probably what lies behind the use of the elephant
in the Middle Ages as an emblem of wisdom (49), of moderation, of eternity, and
also of pity (8).
To see an elephant in your dream, indicates that you need to be more patient or more understanding of others. Or perhaps there is a memory that you are holding on to for too long. You need to let go of the past. The elephant is also a symbol of power, strength, faithfulness and intellect. Alternatively, the elephant's introverted personality may be a reflection of your own personality. In particular, if you see a white elephant, then it symbolizes royalty.

To dream of feeding one, denotes that you will elevate yourself in your community by your kindness to those occupying places below you.
Good health, success, strength, prosperity, intelligence.

Alternatively, as a creature with an introverted nature, the elephant may thus be depicting your own personality. Dreaming that you are riding an elephant indicates that you are in control of your unconscious and aspects that you once were afraid of.
