A friend of mine called out to me to help her find and reach an old friend I don't really see anymore these days, whom she has a complex history with...he was asleep somewhere and she wanted me to help her get in touch with him through his mind in order to tell him something really important. I asked and she didn't feel comfortable telling me what it was or what for, so I let the question go. The setting was a regular seeming suburban street, sun dappled by light shining through an abundant amount of trees. She says "lets go" and we proceed towards a small hole at the bottom of a painted brick wall with a fence on top, (like one of a schoolyard's), no bigger than my forehead. She somehow squeezed in first and I proceeded to do so as well, my mind and body warping through this tiny hole and seeing and then appearing in what felt like an entirely different place in a similar setting.
From here I take the lead in tracking down our friend in question, and we walk through this strange suburban seeming town, around blocks, down streets, through stores and even some houses. Entering buildings seemed to result in more warps, entered effortlessly unlike the first one in the small hole, and traveling through them gave the impression that we were diving deeper and deeper into our friend's subconscious, which was necessary in order to attempt to reach his consciousness and deliver this message.
Finally, after some journeying and entering a two story house, we found him lazily laying on a bed. She said what she had to say and we had to go, back the way we came. After re-tracing our steps backwards, we had to go through the same hole in the wall from the beginning of our journey. Time was running short, apparently, and we had to get through before it was "too late" (I assume my friend was waking up or something to that degree). I had to work particularly hard to get through the hole this time, and struggled to squeeze myself through, but finally managed to get through. Upon crossing this tight threshold, we said our goodbyes and parted ways; I woke up.
Mystics have always traditionally considered the feminine aspect of

transformed, sometimes signifies the place or the moment of psychic transmutation in the alchemical sense. The intercommunicating rooms speak for themselves. The stairs are the link between the various planes of the psyche, but their
particular significance depends upon whether they are seen as ascending or descending. Finally, there is, as we have said, the association of the house with the
human body, especially regarding its openings, as was well understood by
Artemidorus Daldianus (56).

A very important symbol, with two main aspects: on the biological
level, it has fertilizing power and is related to fertility rites; on the spiritual plane,
it stands for the ‘opening’ of this world on to the other world. Worship of
‘perforated stones’ in one form or another is very common all over the world.
Eliade notes that, in the region of Amance, there is just such a stone in front of
which women kneel to pray for the health of their children. To this day, in
Paphos, barren women crawl through the hole of such a stone. Primitive Indian
peoples were mainly concerned with its symbolism at the physical level, identifying the hole with the female sexual organs, although they too had an intuitive
awareness of the fact that holes could stand for the ‘gateway of the world’, which
the soul has to cross in order to be released from the cycle of karma (17). In the
Brihadaranyaka Upanishad it is said that ‘when a human being leaves this world,
he makes his way through the air, and the air opens up for him as wide as a
cartwheel’ (50). The artistic expression of this symbol is found in the Chinese Pi,
i.e. the representation of heaven. It is a jade disc with a hole in the middle;
measurements vary from case to case, but according to the Chinese dictionary
Erh Ya, the relation between the outside ring and the central hole remains constant. This hole is the Hindu ‘gateway’, also the Aristotelian ‘unvarying mean’ or

of wounds helped to strengthen the association between the concept of the hole

that in many symbolist pictures, e.g. in Gustave Moreau’s Orpheus, the background landscape includes perforated rocks which are evidently invested with a
transcendental significance. It is also worth recalling Salvador Dali’s frequent

like windows) on the backs of some of his figures.

wall is a determinative sign conveying the idea of ‘rising above the common level’
(19); clearly the predominant sense here is that of its height. A wall enclosing a
space is the ‘wall of lamentations’, symbolic of the sensation of the world as a
‘cavern’—of the doctrine of immanentism or the metaphysical notion of the
impossibility of reaching the outside. It expresses the ideas of impotence, delay,
resistance, or a limiting situation. Now, the wall seen from within as an enclosure
has a secondary implication of protection which, according to its function and the
attitude of the individual, may even be taken as its principal meaning. Psychoanalysts frequently regard it in this light and hence have classified it as a mothersymbol, comparable with the town and the house or home (56). Bayley sums up the two essential features of the wall as follows: Like the house, it is a mystic

principle, and spirit to the active or masculine.
