The John Belushi Dream

Morning of March 5, 1982. Friday.

This dream was probably more ”clairvoyant” (a word I do not particularly care for because of all its unfortunate negative connotations) in some ways than precognitive, as I worked out that John’s death was at about the same time as my dream - but with virtually endless similar experiences, I really do not have a label or explanation that fits public consensus or books that explore such concepts. I also had no idea about his lifestyle as I was not even a fan and had not even seen much of his work at all. All I know is that dreams - when you pay attention and use various forms of meditation and affirmation - as well as document them meticulously - present a variety of information that the dreamer could not possibly know about including seeming remote-viewing and long-term precognition (and postcognition) and various hybrids or composites thereof, so it is hard to pigeonhole such perceptions into one title or idea, especially “psychic”, a term that I do not like at all. Over time, when younger, I learned that commercial “psychics” had far less “psychic” experiences than I had as well as being extraordinarily dishonest.

In the dream, I am going into a building; at first it seems like a shopping mall in La Crosse, Wisconsin, near where I live at the time.

It soon seems that I am at a party in some sort of hotel or ballroom, and I feel somewhat out of place (I am not a drinker in real life) and the only person I recognize is John Belushi, the comedian/actor. He approaches me and starts talking about his “death”, saying something very much like, “this is how it is when you die…you dream for a little while, then your characteristics shift and everything you are on the outside dissipates and you move on to other places” - these are likely not the exact words, but fairly close, I think.

As he talks, the dream becomes more vivid, but remains fairly uneventful. John is wearing some sort of dark suit which seems to change slightly throughout (even from a slightly shimmery material to a bit duller and back). He also seems to be holding and drinking from a small cocktail glass the whole time, some sort of pinkish-orange or pinkish-yellow drink.

I become aware that most of the people at the party are either “dying” or are other living people having the “same” dream. A couple of times, John walks away to talk to someone else, but they mostly ignore him, so he ends up walking back to me and talking a bit more. Then I start to think that maybe it is not actually “me” he is talking to, but someone who is somehow standing where I am at a different level of “reality”, perhaps an actual friend of his - or maybe I am a “layer” in someone else, perhaps even a layer of a typical dream persona composite.

After leaving the building and when I am later down the street about a block away, I look back and notice a large, white bat above the building (flying in a circle) which now somehow looks like an old mausoleum in another country. The motions of the bat remind me slightly of stop-motion animation in old movies such as “Jason and the Argonauts” (a recurring dream distortion since childhood). Somehow, I believe that the white bat only represented death in this dream because I had read about it as such in a so-called dream dictionary. I have no respect or belief in “dream dictionaries” whatsoever and their very existence taught me that the public has no viable interest in real dream work.

I do not believe this dream had evidence of “life after death” or reincarnation. It was simply the usual remote-viewing/precognitive hybrid I have had since earliest memory. There are various potential “explanations” for this particular type of experience. Was it actual (telepathic) “contact” with John (if so, why, I was not a fan and lived many miles away), my subconscious creating a lucid dream scenario based solely on supraconscious foreshadowing, personal precognition from what I would hear later (based on fractal continuity), or a random “Universal Mind” event? There is no honest way of knowing, though “cop-out inducing” skeptics that attempt to debunk such day to day experiences are certainly not worthy of a gram of respect, either.
