"Meteor Men"

Morning of September 25, 2013. Wednesday.

This dream was rather bizarre yet it brought back to mind a movie I had consciously forgotten about but was able to find to view again tonight with my wife (the last time I saw it being about a year before we met). The in-dream scenario seemed to be a fictional sequel of the movie “The Meteor Man” (from 1993) which starred Robert Townsend. The fictional sequel has two Caucasian males of about twenty whom I think are involved in a motorcycle repair business. The dream has a lot of surreal imagery and does not make much sense. It is still a bit vivid, though, but not like the vivid dreams with far more precise imagery and orientation (that feel more like real life).

The two men are seen as villains by some people rather than heroes at different times even though they save people. There is one scene where they stop a car from crashing and right after that they cool off an angry crowd of people (who do not like the Meteor Men) who seem to have heat exhaustion - the Meteor Men blowing at them from a distance using some sort of “ice breath” and most of them seem thankful except for a few who immediately leave. They do seem to be able to fly at times, but not very well. There is one scene with an older lady who eventually seems annoyed by them following her to make sure she crosses the busy streets safely.

The most bizarre scene is where they visit the original Meteor Man for advice and such. He (Robert Townsend) seems much older in the dream, around seventy or so. He has a lot of amazing powers but seemingly not much control over them as he has supposedly gotten very old and his body supposedly “too weak” to exhibit more mental focus over, relating to the shifting energies. As he is talking, while giving some apparently good advice, he says “I don’t want you to see me like this” (implying they should leave) when he begins to change uncontrollably into some sort of anthropomorphic reptilian pangolin porcupine hybrid. He later changes in other extremely strange ways and his body and height nearly double in size.

At one point, when he is much larger, a turntable seems to be growing vertically and facing forward from below his left shoulder as he faces towards me (though it is like I am not there, but it is still on location). Two large flies buzz around and land on the record that is somehow playing vertically as if they are attracted to the partly organic(?) turntable for some reason. (This is quite possibly some of the most bizarre dream imagery I have had in recent memory.) The two men do leave, to go off on other misadventures, as the filming of the movie is not yet finished for them, apparently, but this is the point my dream starts to shift into even more unusual hypnopompic-like imagery regarding robotic flies and organic human-like “rocks” and hair and eyes, and pangolins and porcupine quills, and unusual futuristic buildings as I slowly wake, with a dream within a dream of how I am talking about differences in the different Meteorite Men costumes to my wife (the original of how I somehow still remember perfectly), as well as other clear images from the real movie even though, again, I have not seen it in years.
