This is one of the strangest experiences of my life (so far):

One day in 1997 (maybe 1996), my girl friend and I take a walk down to our local coffee shop in Berkeley. As I politely open the screen door to the coffee shop to allow my girl friend to walk inside, I glance down and see some writing or symbol etched into the concrete. Seeing this triggers a deja vu: as if I remember looking at this writing in the concrete before. And then as I ponder the experience of the deja vu, I have a second-cycle deja vu: of having the deja vu: and then a third-cycle deja vu: etc etc etc. Very rapidly--in the course of a few micro-seconds--the deja vu cycles cascade exponentially "upwards" into the 10s, 100s, 1000s, etc toward infinity, and all with a corresponding increase in the cognitive potency of the deja vu-like altered state experience … until ultimately, some type of absolute deja vu threshold is reached, a type of psychic singularity, and there is a sudden "pop", a flash of white light, and my conscious awareness expands into an extrasensory vision state:

What I see is so very bizarre: it's as if I'm looking across some threshold of this reality, far above my head : some type of a control room that appears to be inside a space ship (or something like it). There are three people in the control room dressed in futuristic uniforms: two men and a woman. They are standing over the computer control boards where a bunch of blinky lights are flashing, and there is a type of angular screen or window above the control boards where they can "look down" thru space, toward me. Outside the window the atmosphere looks honey-amber yellow.

Upon my arrival into this vision, it's apparent that the three people there are suddenly aware that I am viewing them. One of the men says something like "Oh no! Error! He's broken thru, and he can see! Quick!" And then they all begin rapidly pressing buttons and adjusting things on the control boards. I realize that the man who spoke out is actually ME (like my higher dimensional future spaceship Captain or something)! The women seems somewhat amused by the situation, while she calmly and quickly makes adjustments to the computer control board. I get a sense that the spaceship control room (or whatever it is) is projecting some type of highly advanced virtual reality computer game--of which the man (me) is participating in somehow … except that I (as some type of projection of him) is not supposed to know about it. Before I can make any other observations or considerations, the crew is successful, and the vision suddenly disappears.

I then find myself still standing on the side walk holding the screen door open for my girl friend (who has already walked thru and is waiting for me inside). This all happened within the scope of maybe 10+ seconds.

To this day: I'm still pondering and contemplating this experience! And I have yet to have another deja vu experience anything quite like it.

In 2012, I returned to the precise location where the experience occured, and took a photo of the sidewalk, and the etching in the concrete by the door (see below). It was the etching on the right, "CASIE 95", that catalyzed the deja vu.
