venturing through and exploring an old, abandoned building, i remember being here before. each room contains technology, and also primitive filing cabinets. pulling open a drawer, i discover a file of a man i once knew. my fingers touch the face in a photograph, searching for some emotion to trigger. it's all so hazy now- i cannot remember. on a computer desk, there is a recording device. curious, i play back this archive of sound recordings. his voice. to hear it again, is so foreign. a long time ago, when i first heard it, my heart fluttered, my grin stretched to my ears, and i was happy. as i listen to the voice now, i stand there in silence, eyes glazed, expressionless, and realizing that my heart was never repaired.
