Lately during the weeknights I have been taking 5mg of melatonin before bedtime. I've noticed a slight increase in awareness before falling asleep, but I'm not sure if that is due to the melatonin or to the fact that I'm trying to feel for the changes in my perception caused by the melatonin. There has been a dramatic increase in the amount of dreams I have at night. Although my ability to recall hasn't had much difference then before I started taking the melatonin, but my ability to recall dreams is always going through phases anyways and at the moment my dream recall hasn't been at an optimum level. Normally I awaken at night around 3 in the morning on my own and fall back asleep shortly after. I always (..well the majority of the time..there's always those strange occurrences when I've slept in through the alarm) wake up before my alarm clock goes off or before my mother wakes me up when I give her rides to work in the morning. I suppose you could say that my internal cock is impeccable because I've always woken up before my alarm clock goes off. Also strangely I always wake up before someone tries to wake me or before something happens that would wake me. Since I've been taking the melatonin I still wake up at 3 but I also wake up an hour before I intend on getting up and am wide awake and full of energy. Usually I go back to sleep because I'm not wanting to get up so much earlier then I intend to. I have not been waking up before my alarm clock though, it has been waking me up actually and I am drowsy when I wake up. I'm not sure if I like this and have decided to start waking up when my body naturally wakes me up.
I have had a few vivid dreams that I was able to recall with clarity since taking melatonin and am going to log them in another entry :)
