Mall Mission: Disarm Naomi's Computer

I build this huge ramp out of snow and wood, with mom’s help. I build the basic shape and she rakes it with a leaf rake until it’s smooth. The ramp is like a long half pipe with two ridges in the center added in. My little cousin Shelby is the first to try it. She attempts to go down barefoot, but I stop her and tell her to use a “board”, which is really a foam kneepad. After Shelby gets as far as she can, it’s my turn.
The first slope is to sharp of an angel, and I loose my momentum before I get to the two small ridges. I have to dig my fingers into the snow in order to paddle myself, just to gain enough speed to pass the ridges. I know the last slope is hopeless without momentum, so I return to the beginning to see if my second try will be better. I toss away my board and to barefoot, despite the worry that my feet will get frost bite. I get a running start, which makes a huge difference. After the first drop, when I start to slow, I run to regain speed. I soar into the air when I reach the ridges, and fly into the air on the other end of the half pipe. It’s incredibly fun.
Now I sit in a small apartment with two walls that are big windows, corner to corner. I’m at the table on a laptop sitting with a little girl as she works on her homework. A little boy plays on the floor nearby. Her homework involves the concept of taking I and me out of all language, which is a mandatory rule of our society, as well as drawing in a certain uniform way. She says, “I think that’s stupid.” I sharply reply if she and her brother talk like I let them talk here in the safety of our house, or if the police or teachers saw her real drawings, they’d be arrested instantly. I look out the window and see a plane doing loops in the air.
I’m not longer with the kids, but with mom. I ask her if I can go to the airport and get on a plane. She scoffs at me. I watch the plane doing loops to must before landing on the landing strip. I decide to do it myself. I leave the house and walk along the viaducts and bridges. I have to jump across a gap in the viaducts, landing right in front of a construction worker on his phone. I land on my rear, and jump down to the ground below to avoid the embarrassment. The fall to the ground is further than I anticipated, much like jumping off a roof if not higher, but I land well regardless.
I run to the mall and go inside. I’m on an important mission. I sneak into the main part of the mall from an employee-only entrance. Larry and Edina, who are guards of the mall, spot me. As it’s their job, they have to follow me. They’re surprised by my change since high school. They haven’t seen me since then, I realize, and it’s been years since we graduated together. I’ve changed a lot, clearly, as I’m not a secret assassin agent and no longer the innocent, awkward girl I was. I’m honestly surprised by some of the changes I see in them as well, particularly Larry’s long but attractive blond hair. I run and slide on the smooth floor as though I’m wearing socks- getting to where I need to be quickly and more efficiently than Larry and Edina are able to manage. I slip their tail with this magical glide. I find my way to a back room, hidden behind a cubed mirror. Travis catches me just as I get past the mirror. I want to trust him, and I want his help. So, instead of misleading him like I did Larry and Edina, I tell him the truth. I tell him this room is hidden for a reason, and the people he works for aren’t who he thinks they are. I ask him to guard the door as long as possible, to buy me as much time as he can. He tries to ask more questions, but I don’t have time to answer. I ignore him and try to open one of the hidden doors, the one to the left, and apparently it’s the wrong choice because an alarm goes off. I go into the room on the right and close the door behind me, shoving Travis away so his foot won’t block it. There’s a screen that I have to type in this complicated number password, but it’s basically impossible, especially when I have to not only know the pattern of the numbers but I’m required to graph the numbers out. I don’t stand a chance to finish before Naomi responds to the alarm and tries to break into the room past Travis, to stop me from disarming the computer. [End]
