Now I’m in the darkness with only a candle lighting me. I hold a book or a box about the size of my hand. It’s wood with gold filigree on the edges, and a circular filigree on it’s center. On one of it’s sides there is a slit all the way down the length of it. It’s a unique keyhole. I take out the Firefly dogtags I have, and examine them. The circular and triangular metal pendants have blocky key teeth, usually two or three teeth per pendant. I know I have to collect all of the pendants to unlock the box. I start with the ones I have, placing the teeth of the pendant at the top, then sliding it all the way down similar to a card being swiped at a store. Once I have all the pendants swiped through the locking mechanism, the box will open. [End]

Different than real life: The Firefly dogtags in The Last of Us do not have key teeth on them. They are just plain circles (as I’ve seen so far).
Reasons:
Firefly dogtags = I just started playing The Last of Us and you can collect Firefly dogtags in the game. I wondered what their purpose is going to be later in the game.

Like all receptacles whose basic use is keeping or containing, the box is
a feminine symbol which can refer both to the unconscious (15) and to the
maternal body itself (31). We do not here refer to spherical objects, which are symbols of Oneness and of the spiritual principle. The myth of ‘Pandora’s box’
appears to allude to the significance of the unconscious, particularly in the special
sense of its unexpected, excessive, destructive potentialities. Diel relates this
symbol to ‘imaginative exaltation’ (15). In addition, we would like to point out
the analogy—the family resemblance—between Pandora’s box and the ‘third
casket’ which figures in so many legends. The first and second contain goods and
riches; the third discharges storms, devastation, death. This is clearly an example
of a symbol of human life (of the cycle of the year), which is divided into three
stages, consisting of two favourable thirds and one adverse. A superb elaboration
upon the Pandora theme is to be found in Dora and Erwin Panofsky’s Pandora’s
Box (London, 1956). Particularly interesting is the authors’ study of the literary
heritage of a myth, and the ways in which it may be adapted to serve the visual
arts.
To see a box in your dream, signifies your instinctual nature and destructive impulses. Alternatively, you may be trying to preserve and protect some aspect of yourself. The box may also symbolize your limitations and restrictions. Consider the pun of "being boxed in".
To dream that you are opening a box, indicates an aspect of yourself that was once hidden is now being revealed. It symbolizes self discovery. Consider your feelings as you open the box. If opening the box fills you will fear, you may be uncovering aspects of yourself that cause you to feel anxious.
Opening a goods box in your dream, signifies untold wealth and that delightful journeys to distant places may be made with happy results. If the box is empty disappointment in works of all kinds will follow.
To see full money boxes, augurs cessation from business cares and a pleasant retirement.

According to Allendy, teeth are the primigenial weapons of attack, and
an expression of activity. Loss of one’s teeth, then, signifies fear of castration or
of complete failure in life, or inhibition (56); it represents an attitude which is the
inversion of that of the Primitive, who, according to the findings of anthropology,
commonly adorned himself with the teeth and claws of conquered animals. Some
interpretations underline the significance of teeth in respect of the sexual aspect
of energy. But of greater importance is the Gnostic concept—for which we are
indebted to Leisegang’s Die Gnosis—in which the teeth constitute the battlements, the wall and the fortifications of the inner man, from the material or
energetic point of view, just as the eyes and the glance are the defence of the spirit.
This explains the negative symbolism of the loss or fracture of the teeth.
If the doctor pulls your tooth, you will have desperate illness, if not fatal; it will be lingering.
To have them filled, you will recover lost valuables after much uneasiness.
To clean or wash your teeth, foretells that some great struggle will be demanded of you in order to preserve your fortune.
To dream that you are having a set of teeth made, denotes that severe crosses will fall upon you, and you will strive to throw them aside.
If you lose your teeth, you will have burdens which will crush your pride and demolish your affairs.
To dream that you have your teeth knocked out, denotes sudden misfortune. Either your business will suffer, or deaths or accidents will come close to you.
To examine your teeth, warns you to be careful of your affairs, as enemies are lurking near you.
If they appear decayed and snaggled, your business or health will suffer from intense strains.
To dream of spitting out teeth, portends personal sickness, or sickness in your immediate family.
Imperfect teeth is one of the worst dreams. It is full of mishaps for the dreamer. A loss of estates, failure of persons to carry out their plans and desires, bad health, depressed conditions of the nervous system for even healthy persons.
For one tooth to fall out, foretells disagreeable news; if two, it denotes unhappy states that the dreamer will be plunged into from no carelessness on his part. If three fall out, sickness and accidents of a very serious nature will follow.
Seeing all the teeth drop out, death and famine usually will prevail. If the teeth are decayed and you pull them out, the same, only yourself, is prominent in the case.
To dream of tartar or any deposit falling off of the teeth and leaving them sound and white, is a sign of temporary indisposition, which will pass, leaving you wiser in regard to conduct, and you will find enjoyment in the discharge of duty.
To admire your teeth for their whiteness and beauty, foretells that pleasant occupations and much happiness will be experienced through the fulfilment of wishes.
To dream that you pull one of your teeth and lose it, and feeling within your mouth with your tongue for the cavity, and failing to find any, and have a doctor for the same, but to no effect, leaving the whole affair enveloped in mystery, denotes that you are about to enter into some engagement which does not exactly please you, and which you decide to ignore, but will later take it up and secretly prosecute it to your own disquieting satisfaction and under the suspicion of friends.
To dream that a dentist cleans your teeth perfectly, and the next morning you find them rusty, foretells you will believe your interest secure concerning some person or position, but you will find that they have succumbed to the blandishments of an artful man or woman.
To dream that you have rotten or decaying teeth, forewarns that your health and/or business is in jeopardy. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.
To dream that your teeth is gleaming, signifies happiness and fulfilled wishes.
To dream that you are brushing your teeth, refers to your level of confidence, your struggles and your aggressiveness. You need to look out for yourself and your own interest. Perhaps, you feel that your position is shaky.

Dreaming about teeth is very common in all cultures and age groups. Most dreams about teeth leave people feeling uneasy and anxious. Consider the overall content and context of the dream and note if you are having dental problems before making interpretation. Teeth usually symbolise power and/or control. Animals use their teeth for defence and nourishment and show their teeth when they are angry. Humans often display similar behaviours. Look and see if you are losing or abusing power and control in any area of your life (especially if you are losing teeth in your dream). Old dream interpretations say that dreaming about teeth is a bad omen that suggests financial difficulties.
Did you know that this is a very common dream? In fact various theories of interpretation have been put forward for this.
It is a dream where you suddenly find that you do not have teeth, or that they keep falling out, suddenly. Certainly bizarre, this dream can be interpreted as a readiness for change.
Just as you lose milk teeth while moving from child to adulthood, so also this dream is telling you that it is time for a massive change in your attitude to life, or asking you to adapt yourself to new circumstances. This is one of the classical interpretations.
At a more ground level, it could just mean that you are insecure about certain aspects, or
It could just mean you are afraid of losing your teeth!
To see a firefly in your dream, represents bright ideas that are coming out of your unconscious.

Firefly Symbolism
The symbolic meaning of the firefly of course deals with light, illumination and the like. Although an important focus, the issue of light is not the high feature behind the symbolic meaning of the firefly. Rather, it is the messages this wonderous creature gives us while her light is off may be most profound to our growth.
An ordinary looking creature during the day, admittedly, the firefly is a remarkable sight when it glows at night. This is a symbolic message to us humans that although our physical appearance may seem one way - it is our internal makings - what is inside us (such as our spirit) that makes us shine from the inside out. That which is within us will always illuminate us and those around us.
Here is a summary list of symbolic meaning of the firefly:
Inspiration
Illumination
Patience
Attraction
Energy
Hope
Aspiration
Guidance
Efficiency
Creativity
New Ideas
Awakening
The firefly primarily uses its light in mating ceremonies, and it is quite elaborate an intricate. Light signals are precise and exactly timed in order to attract the right mate. This is a symbolic message that if we are to attract the people, places and things in our lives, we must plan accordingly, lay down the groundwork, and be persistent in our ideals.
It is interesting to note that the firefly does not produce heat in order to create her light. This is a message that we must not burn our candles at both ends. Creativity and development is suppose to be a free, natural, and easy-going process - there is no need for us to "burn-out" in order to reach our goals.
In addition to using no heat to produce her light, the fact that fireflies eat very little is another symbolic meaning of economy or efficiency. Adult fireflies use their environment to the most effective extent possible in order to gain their energy. This is a lesson for us to use the resources we have availble to us, and not waste or consume to excess.
When fireflies come into our lives they are there to guide us to ways of living that are more earth-friendly, and soul-friendly. Fireflies teach us the value of living simply, and relying on our own inner voices for illumination. Fireflies also come to us with a message of creativity, and remind us that our paths are made lighter by the beauty that we allow into our lives.
Firefly teaches us to bring things into focus and to lighten the path that is hidden in order to understand our life force. He gives the spark of divine insight and inspiration. Firefly aids in illuminating what is hidden, understands what is confusing, brings wonder and awe in the darkness. He will teach strength to replace fear in the midst of the darkness; spiritual or emotional. Sometimes the faintest the light will see you through. Allow firefly to guide you - in the moment, through the forest of life and to navigate what you are unable to perceive or understanding. It is the light that should be your focus, not the dark. Firefly will show you how, so watch carefully!
As an attribute, it pertains to several mythic characters, including Hecate
(31). It is symbolic of mystery or enigma, or of a task to be performed, and the
means of carrying it out. It sometimes refers to the threshold of the unconscious
(32). The key to knowledge corresponds, within the cycle of the year, to the
month of June (healing). The conjunction of the symbols of the male dove and the
key signifies the spirit opening the gates of heaven (4). The emblem formed by
two keys, sometimes placed over a heart, relates to Janus (4). In legend and
folklore, three keys are often used to symbolize a like number of secret chambers
full of precious objects. They are symbolic representations of initiation and
knowledge. The first key, of silver, concerns what can be revealed by psychological understanding; the second is made of gold, and pertains to philosophical
wisdom; the third and last, of diamond, confers the power to act (38). The finding
of a key signifies the stage prior to the actual discovery of the treasure, found
only after great difficulties. Clearly there is a morphological relationship between
the key and the Nem Ankh sign (or ‘Eternal Life’)—the anserated cross of the Egyptians; their gods are sometimes shown holding this cross by the top as if it
were a key, especially in ceremonies concerning the dead. But it should perhaps
be pointed out that, in this case, it is the keys that derive from the anserated cross,
the archetype of the key of Eternal Life that opens up the gates of death on to
immortality.
To see a key in your dream, symbolizes opportunities, access, control, secrets, freedom, knowledge or responsibilities. You may be locking away your own inner feelings and emotions. Or you are unlocking the answer to some problem. In particular, a ring of keys, represents status, authority, and power. It also highlights your adaptability to a situation. If the key is gold, then it suggests that influence, power and wealth will give you access to almost anything you want.
Alternatively, keys have sexual connotations. They can represent intercourse, impotence, infidelity, etc. depending on the condition and usage of the key.
To dream that you lose your keys, signify fears of losing control of yourself or losing your position or status in life. It may also indicate unexpected changes, frustrations, and unpleasant adventures. The dream could be analogous to lost or missed opportunities. If you give your key away, then it suggests that you have given up control of some situation or responsibility.
To dream that you find a key, indicates that you have found a solution to a problem.
To see broken keys in your dream, represent a lost in status. You are denied access to a place where you were previously allowed. If the key is rusty, then it symbolizes a talent or skill that you have neglected.

If the keys are lost, unpleasant adventures will affect you.
To find keys, brings domestic peace and brisk turns to business.
Broken keys, portends separation either through death or jealousy.
For a young woman to dream of losing the key to any personal ornament, denotes she will have quarrels with her lover, and will suffer much disquiet therefrom. If she dreams of unlocking a door with a key, she will have a new lover and have over-confidence in him. If she locks a door with a key, she will be successful in selecting a husband. If she gives the key away, she will fail to use judgment in conversation and darken her own reputation.

As with most dreams, look for the obvious connections by comparing the details or the theme of your dream to your daily life. Are you trying to figure something out and "unlock" a puzzling question? Do you wish to hide something? Are you locking something up or are you opening the door? Last, but not least, does this dream have any sexual connotations?
To dream that you are hunting, shooting at, or killing game, refers to the game of life. It also represents your ability to keep your animalistic nature in check and in control.
To dream of game, either shooting or killing or by other means, denotes fortunate undertakings; but selfish motions; if you fail to take game on a hunt, it denotes bad management and loss.
