Involuntary Green Euthinasia (part 2 of 3)

Me, Joel, and Ellie are captured by the police that are after us. They’re no longer police, but now the scavenger “hunters” [hunters from The Last of Us]. We’re taken to a basement in a large industrial building. It’s dark other than a few neon lights.
Me and Ellie get separated from Joel, and when we’re stopped outside of a door as the guard unlocks it, she tells me how worried she is for him. I tell her that he’ll be fine, and if he’s not, he’ll surely have a fast death. I realize after the words leave my mouth that they’re probably not comforting or appropriate, but it’s to late for me to fix it as we’re being herded into the next room.
The room is full of hospital beds practically from wall to wall. There’s screens separating double rows of a dozen beds or so. Me and Ellie are strapped into side-by-side beds, her bed on my left. I’m in a semi-upright position, whereas she is flat. The half the people across from me are in sitting up positions to, but I don’t have much time to look at my neighbors before the nurse comes by. She injects me with a vial of glowing green substance. I know that it’s euthanasia of some kind. I silently hope that me and Ellie will be immune to this drug, which isn’t to far out of hope’s range thanks to us both being immune to the zombie virus. I ask the nurse if it’ll be fast. She responds with a chuckle before saying it’ll be slow, and very painful. She curtly walks off, and I have a chance to look around at the other victims. The man directly across from me, as well as the man to his right and the woman to his left, are covered in sores. They all wear gowns, as do me and Ellie. The woman to the left of the man across from me starts to struggle against her restraints with desperation. She starts screaming, struggling, gasping, crying out- and then she is quiet. She is gone. The other man diagonal of me is moaning and straining against his restrains, whining as the pain starts to take them.
This is how it ends, then. As I see the other prisoners around me die in such pain and anguish- and examine the bodies of those that are already dead all around us, I loose hope that I will survive this. Ellie, though, Ellie might just have a chance. I hold onto hope that she can survive. She’s strong, and the first to not turn to the zombie virus. She has a shot, but not I. This- this will be my death. [continued]
