Me and Bell are in the high school at our lockers. I grab out a couple of books, and before we leave, I want to take one of them back to the classroom that I borrowed it from. We go down the hall a ways and turn into a pocket of classrooms, like a mini-hallway with classrooms at the end and on either side. I look for the room the book belongs, but Rose’s mom leans out of one of the classrooms at the end of this mini-hall and tells me and Bell to leave the area immediately. She acts as though there’s a life-or-death situation going on nearby, as though there’s a killer in the building.
Me and Bell leave, but don’t take her warning all to seriously. This mini-hall didn’t have the right classroom anyway, so we go across the main hall to another mini-hall. When the sirens start to go off, we realize that something serious /is/ happening.
We try to hide in one of the classes in the mini-hall. The classroom we pick looks exactly like my bedroom [but still registers as a classroom]. I hide in the closet next to the bed, and Bell sits on the bed trying to be still enough not to be seen. I tell her she needs to hide better, but the only place to hide is the closet. I look around, trying to figure out if I can climb up into one of the upper corners to make room for her in this small space. I tell her about my plan to climb up, but my speaking has attracted the threat. I look through the curtain and see Bell’s horrified, still face. I look down and see a shadowy, metal, skeleton hand slowly reaching for my foot from under the curtain. I scream and leap up. My foot touches the top of the hand, making it retract from the closet.
I burst out and try to make a run for the thermostat. I know if I can just turn down the temperature, the thing will become docile. Bell just sits on the bed and shouts. I almost reach the white box on the wall, but the metal skeleton shadow creature grabs me and pulls me back. [End]

Its sound is a symbol of creative power (4). Since it is in a hanging
position, it partakes of the mystic significance of all objects which are suspended
between heaven and earth. It is related, by its shape, to the vault and, consequently, to the heavens.
Hearing a bell represents a warning or a call to order. It may also be a signal from your unconscious to prepare you for whatever is happening next. If the bell rings and never stops, then it suggests that you are experiencing extreme anxiety.

In the Egyptian tongue, the term designating the hand was related to
that for the pillar (or a support, or strength) and for the palm (4). In esoteric
doctrine, the position of the hand in relation to the body, and the arrangement of
the fingers, convey certain precise symbolic notions (48). According to the Egyptian system of hieroglyphs, the hand signifies manifestation, action, donating and
husbandry. An eye in association with a hand—as for example in some oriental
mythic beings—symbolize ‘clairvoyant action’ (19). Schneider concedes a major
rôle to the hand ‘because it is the corporeal manifestation of the inner state of the
human being’ and because ‘it expresses an attitude of mind in terms other than the
acoustic’—or, in other words, a gesture. It follows, then, that the raised hand is
the symbol of the voice and of song; the hand placed on the breast indicates the
attitude of the sage; placed on the neck it denotes sacrifice; two hands joined
signifies mystic marriage—the Jungian individuation; the hand covering the eyes
represents clairvoyance at the moment of death (50). Of great importance is the
fact that the hand has five fingers, firstly, because of its broad analogy with the
human figure (composed of four extremities plus the head), and, secondly, by
reason of the symbolism of the number five (denoting love, health and humanity)
(40). In Egyptian hieroglyphics, the open hand signifies any specificially human
task as well as magnetic force (19)—an idea also characteristic of pre-Columbian
America. And a very similar belief lies behind the widespread use of the hand as
an amulet in Islamic cultures. According to Berber thought, the hand signifies
protection, authority, power and strength; the manus had the same meaning for
the Romans, symbolizing in particular the authority of the pater familias and of
the emperor, and is sometimes to be seen surmounting the signum of the legions
in place of the imperial eagle. In the Islamic amulets mentioned above, the figure
of the hand undergoes various modifications or appears in association with other
symbols, as, for instance, the star, the dove, the bird, the fan, the zigzag and the
circle, forming emblems comparable with those of the Christian West (12). The
familiar emblem of the ‘linked hands’ is expressive of a virile fraternity, or solidarity in the face of danger (49). In Jung’s opinion, the hand is endowed with a generative significance (31). The difference between the right hand and the left is
usually ignored, but when the distinction is made it appears merely to serve the
purpose of enriching the basic significance with the additional implications of
space-symbolism, the right side corresponding to the rational, the conscious, the
logical and the virile; the left side representing the converse (33). There are alchemic images which represent a King clasping in his own left hand the left hand
of the Queen. Jung suggests that this may refer to the unconscious character of
their union but that it may also be indicative either of affection or of suspicion
(33).

As the Sun is the light of the spirit, so shadow is the negative
‘double’ of the body, or the image of its evil and base side. Among primitive
peoples, the notion that the shadow is the àlter ego or soul is firmly established;
it is also reflected in the folklore and literature of some advanced cultures (35). As
Frazer has noted, the primitive often regards his shadow, or his reflection in water or in a mirror, as his soul or as a vital part of himself (21). ‘Shadow’ is the term
given by Jung to the primitive and instinctive side of the individual.

This dream may be interpreted on several different levels. If you are the student you may be feeling inadequate or lack self-confidence. Either way, going to school or attending class in a dream is your unconscious reminder that there is a need for new learning and that you may have not learned an important lesson. School may not always be a positive experience, but it is always necessary. Ask yourself what do you need to learn more about? If you were a teacher in your dream, you may be dealing with issues of authority. This is one of the most valued pieces of furniture. It's where we sleep, rest, restore our minds and bodies and engage in sexual pleasure. The bed is symbolic of all of these things. The bed could also symbolise the bridge between the conscious and the unconscious (i.e. our daily lives and the great unknown, our spirit and our psychological undercurrent). The quality and the cleanliness of the bed in our dreams may say something about the way we feel about ourselves, and our relationships. In reality we "make our own bed," so the dream may reflect that bed and remind us that we have to either change it or lie in it. If there were things hiding under the bed in your dream, it may symbolise secrets that you or others are keeping. and also of other kinds of non-communication. Many rites involving the
enclosureimage are performed to mark the reaching of puberty, all over the world.
The legend about Danae, shut up by her father in a bronze tower, pertains to this
particular symbolism. There is a Siberian legend concerning a ‘dark house of iron’
which is also relevant to it (21). We might also mention the ‘vase with a lid’, one
of the eight emblems of good luck in Chinese Buddhism, and a symbol of wholeness, of the idea with no ‘exit’, or, in other words, of supreme intelligence triumphant over birth and death (signified respectively by the doors and windows of
